The fascia board is the long, straight board that runs along the lower edge of the roof. The fascia is fixed directly to the roof trusses and usually does all the work of supporting the bottom row of tiles and carrying all the guttering.
This is no mean feat, especially when it is raining hard. In a downpour the roof of a 3-bed semi could be washing several gallons of water per second into its gutters.
The guttering pipes we use are made of uPVC which comes in several different designs and colours.
uPVC is a durable and strong material which can withstand the wind and rain. uPVC is a very common material in guttering now and can fit in to many different designs of houses.
When it comes to guttering and down-pipes, M and W Contractors Ltd use good quality materials from well established and reputable companies.
We can provide a wide range of gutters and outdoor piping.
Whether you are looking for standard gutters or for replacement gutter shapes and profiles which are no longer generally available we are here to help. We are especially skilled at acquiring unusual guttering for use on listed and historical buildings as well as old buildings, public buildings and churches. With our exceptional connections and supplier relationships acquiring rare guttering needn’t be a problem.
We also offer a measuring service for gutters and downpipes, i.e. we will send somebody out to measure the size and quantity of gutters required to do the job.
The soffit board is tucked away under the fascia board.
It is usually the board that you see most of from street level. The soffit can be ventilated to allow the flow of air into the roof area. Alternatively, ventilation can be provided over the top of the fascia board. Many people prefer the latter solution these days. Without adequate ventilation, condensation will form in the roof void increasing the risk of timber decay.
Does your gutter constantly get blocked?
Gutter guards will help prevent your gutter from being blocked. The gutter guards are installed in the gutter channel and will catch debris resting on the surface allowing the rain water to fall through and flow through the gutters and into the drain pipes. However the guard will need to be cleaned every so often to keep it in good condition, this is a service that we can provide. Call us for more information, if required.
